Welcome to Cambridge Homeschool Companion

About Me:

Hello and welcome.

I’m a homeschooling mother who has spent the last nine years guiding her child through a Cambridge International–aligned education, from KS1 through to KS3. I didn’t begin this journey as a trained teacher. I began as a mother—asking questions, reading late into the night and trying to balance structure with warmth, ambition with reassurance. Like many homeschooling parents, I wanted to offer my child a strong education without losing the joy, confidence, and curiosity that make learning meaningful.

 Why I Homeschool

I chose to Homeschool because I wanted my child to be known—not measured, rushed, or shaped to fit a system. I wanted learning to happen at a pace that felt right, with space for questions, confidence to grow, and the freedom to pause when understanding mattered more than progress on paper. Homeschooling gave us the flexibility to protect curiosity while still working toward clear academic goals, and over time, it became a way of learning that felt both intentional and human.

Over time, our home became a place where Cambridge expectations met real life. I learned how to slow things down when needed, revisit foundations without fear, and adapt lessons to suit one child—not a classroom of many. There were moments of uncertainty and trial and error, but also moments of deep satisfaction as learning began to click.

Our approach has remained closely aligned with Cambridge International, including preparation for the Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary stages. This journey led to Cambridge Checkpoint assessments, where my child achieved strong KS2 results across the core subjects, including a full score in English. We are now navigating Year 8 and preparing for Year 9, the final step of KS3 and the transition into KS4.

Along the way, I gained not only a deep understanding of the Cambridge framework, but also something equally important: insight into the emotional and practical realities of homeschooling. I understand the quiet worries about “doing enough,” the pressure to get it right, and the need for clear, trustworthy guidance.

Through this journey, I developed:

  • A strong understanding of Cambridge learning objectives
  • Practical, realistic strategies for teaching English, Mathematics, Science, and core skills at home
  • Confidence in identifying learning gaps early—and addressing them gently
  • Deep empathy for the challenges homeschooling parents face behind the scenes

This blog was created to share what I’ve learned—the methods that truly worked, the mistakes I learned from, and the resources that made a real difference. My hope is to offer clarity, reassurance, and steady support as you navigate your own homeschooling path with Cambridge.

I also support families who are:

  • Homeschooling with the Cambridge International curriculum
  • Preparing for Cambridge Checkpoint
  • Moving through the transitions from KS1 to KS2 to KS3
  • Seeking personalized, one-to-one academic guidance, especially in English

My aim is not to replace schools, but to walk alongside parents—offering informed guidance rooted in lived experience.

 A final word

Homeschooling can feel lonely at times, especially when you’re carrying both the responsibility and the hope. If you’re walking this path with care and intention, you’re already doing something meaningful. I’m glad you’re here, and I hope this space brings you clarity, reassurance, and the confidence to keep going.
